At Craig Ty Mawr, the recently developed limestone crag situated just north of Tremeirchion, there has been some more first ascent action.

Firstly John Maskell paid a visit, grabbing the second ascent of 36 Chambers, confirming the V9/7C grade. He then climbed the project line mentioned in previous news reports, i.e. the wall up and left of the main crag. Protect Ya Neck V7/7A+ climbs the wall from low undercuts past a shallow mono up to a sloping hold and side pull below the ivy.

Sheffield raider, Ben Thompson then popped in and nabbed 22 Chambers V9/7C, a superb problem which climbs the groove right of 36 Chambers.

“It starts sitting on some amazing tufas then it does a cross over to a nice finger jug, busts out right to a gaston then continues up the groove via some shouldery moves to finish on the 36 Chambers jug. Really good climbing and slightly harder than 36 Chambers.”

Explained Ben.

Finally, Danny Cattell restored local pride with a brilliant sitting start to his own line, 36 Chambers. This went at V10/7C+ and involves some amazing moves on perfect rock.

"It's one of the coolest limestone problems I've ever done."

Commented Danny.
