Beast from the East

Shortly before popping his A2 pulley, Owen Hayward added a short but powerful new line to the Black Country Crack area in Parc Dudley.

Beast from the East climbs the wall just right of 'nails' project 19 (p.450 in the new NWB guide) from a sitting start (shorties may need to stack a couple of pads to get a useable lift-off position). Pull on with compression holds (left hand: holding slopey edge of recess, right hand: sidepull at slightly lower level just left of mossy crack) and make a hard pop up to a higher right hand side pull then a hard to hold slap to the head height sloper/juggy finger rail. Finish straight up. The mossy crack and anything to the right are (obviously) out of bounds.

The nails undercut project remains as an obvious challenge for lanky climbers with a penchant for locking off on crimpy undercut/sidepulls!
