The enticing crack line of Lone Wolf 7B Photo: Alec Taylor

Alec Taylor has climbed an excellent new line at Tremeirchion. Lone Wolf 7B climbs the obvious crack line on the wall to the right of Enter the Dragon, starting on two waist height tufas.

“I'd had a few sessions trying to climb the crack direct but I was struggling to get into the undercut in the centre of the wall, I could just crimp the lip of it but couldn't get into it properly (as a crimp or undercut). Then on Friday I noticed a hold on the vague aręte above the crack, which with a high heel allowed me to get my left hand into the undercut. Turns out that I didn't need to undercut it with the aręte hold though! I just kept going with my left to reach the blocky jug in the crack below the ivy.
It's not quite the line I was after, but it is a line to the jug in the middle of the wall! Grade wise I'm guessing it’s about Font 7B ish, but I could well be out in either direction.”

Said Alec after the ascent.

Alec managed to shoot some footage of the first ascent on his phone (balanced in a shoe!): To view it click here
