Pete Robins on the Lou Ferrino section of the Lou Ferrino - Bonnie link V13/8B Photo: Si Panton

Pete Robins has climbed what many believe is the ultimate visual line of Parisella's Cave, namely linking Lou Ferrino into the obvious extension of Bonnie.

“I had done Bonnie a few years back but I just couldn't repeat it, even though my goal was to do the Lou Ferrino link. In the end I decided to just start from Lou Ferrino and see what would happen. The tactic worked and the extra psyche saw me hit Bonnie really firing. I think it is of similar difficulty to Silk Cut or the Incredible Bulk, i.e. hard V13/8B or F8c+. It's a brilliant piece of climbing, so good!”

Yesterday Pete was already eyeing up the ultimate prize of extending the difficulties all the way into Ben Bransby's recent roped top out, Bonnie Extension. This didn't quite work out but he did manage the second ascent from a standing start, reckoning it was worth about F8b+ with his sequence (which differed from Ben's).

“The full version will be worth F9a”, commented Pete.
