The Bogey, sitting pretty beneath The Nose on Dinas Mot Photos: Big G

The Plexus Block, perched on the hillside under its (unfairly) more celebrated parent cliff

My, how time flies during these heady summer months. It only seems like yesterday that July’s BotM feature appeared and yet here comes Big G again - like the friendly, avuncular chap he is - ready to drop some more 'hot' boulder hunting knowledge on your plate.

Dear NWB readers,

I wonder if fellow enthusiasts have noticed that just as dogs often seem to miraculously resemble their owners, so too do some fallen chunks of boulder strongly resemble their parent cliffs. Here we see The Bogey which I would suggest captures the essence of the crag above, saving needless ascent of said cliff and reducing traffic jam potential on popular routes such as Superdirect.

So too does The Plexus Block, which succeeds in emulating the qualities of Plexus Buttress (being composed of the purest sandpaper dolerite). Indeed it encapsulates them not only in one small boulder, but in one problem alone (west face - with a sit down, low V grade).

Ha - and how good would a couple of moves have to be to entice anyone all the way up there, past all those other places? That, boys and girls, is how good a problem it is!

Yours,

Big G
