Cool autumn conditions this week saw the arrival of some significant repeats on the Jerry’s Roof block in the Llanberis Pass. Pete Robins managed the 5th ascent of Pool of Bethesda V12/8a+, Paul Higginson’s notoriously tricky problem, which tackles the line of the porthole feature. Pete nearly made a memorable double whammy – earlier in the day he had come very close to repeating The Very Big and the Very Small F8b+ on Rainbow Slab. This ‘slate route/hard Pass boulder problem day’ is something that Pete had achieved only a month or so before, albeit at a slightly more attainable level, when he onsighted Ringin’ in Ureas E6 6c and then did Diesel Power V11/8a on the Cromlech Boulders.

"Not bad for a trad climber!" was Pete's toungue in cheek comment after his ascent of Pool of Bethesda. In the same session Adam Hocking repeated Mr Fantastic V12/8a+.
