Chris Doyle on the first ascent of Firestarter Direct V7/7a+. Photo: Danny Cattell

At the increasingly popular limestone venue of Pantymwyn, Chris Doyle and Danny Cattell made quick repeats of Mick Adam’s recent addition Gasoline Straight Up finding a better sequence for getting past the lip (up to the lip with right hand, then go again to back hand furthest left hold on Firestarter), reckoning that V8/7b was a more appropriate grade for the new method.

Chris went on to make the obvious link into the top of Firestarter. Firestarter Direct rates V7/7a+.

In the same session Danny also made the second ascent of his brother Sam’s The Yellow Finish. Danny got this on his third attempt and confirmed the grade at hard V10/7c+.
