Chris Davies stood in front of a gopping wet Parisella’s Cave, photos: Si Panton

A similarly soaking Split Infinity bay.

Chris Davies with this week’s rubbish haul.

The weather in North Wales has held out well this winter, with favourable climbing conditions existing right up until this week, whilst it has to be said the Peak and Yorkshire have been a total washout.

The run of reasonable weather has finally broken with some particularly wet and warm conditions sweeping across the area in the last week. As a result the crags are as damp and greasy as an oil covered seal. The NWB.com editorial team visited the Llandudno Ormes yesterday to be greeted by an almost entirely drenched crag. All of Parisella’s Cave and the Breck Road were soaked, and there were only three holds in the Split Infinity bay that had remained dry!

“That is definitely the wettest I have ever seen this crag in all the years I have been climbing here.” Commented a disappointed Si Panton, before adding:.

“There continues to be a problem with party rubbish being scattered around the cave area. This is not being left by climbers, but I would urge anybody who visits to collect and remove any rubbish they find.”

Glancing at the weather forecast, there does seem to be some colder, less humid weather on the horizon, so have faith all you Ormes devotees, the dry rock will be back soon.
