Gaz Parry on the crux section of Clyde V12/8a+, photo: Dave Simmonite

Gaz Parry has topped an amazing run of hard ascents in North Wales with the first ascent of one the last great projects in Parisella’s Cave. Clyde takes the obvious continuation ramp of Lou Ferrino from a standing start at the traditional end of Lou Ferrino and Rock Attrocity. The ramp is followed out for a few metres before a positive undercut hold allows a rightwards swerve towards the outer lip of the main roof. A desperate match here precedes a swing into the top of Trigger Cut.

Gaz had originally inspected the line in 2004, cleaning holds from the roof of his car. In the following years it had seen attention from other climbers, most notably local lad, Dave Noden, who had come very close to climbing it on a number of occasions.

Rich Heap captured the ascent for a forthcoming film focussing on the British climbing scene.

The left hand exit along the ramp line remains as another LGP, as does the obvious, but clearly monstrous, link from the start of Lou Ferrino.
