Neil Dyer breaking through the lip of the cave on Upper Cut V8/7b (photo: Si Panton)

Neil Dyer has climbed the much-eyed hanging groove line left of Bust Lip in Parisella’s Cave. Upper Cut is undoubtedly a superb line, and a fine addition to the ever growing range of cave classics.

The problem follows Parisella’s Original to its finish at the good holds at the top of Trigger Cut. It then breaks through the roof to gain the attractive hanging groove running up from the lip of the cave. Good holds and the ledge system at the top of Bust Lip/Beaver Cleaver arrive just as things start to get a bit dangerous.

Neil spent a couple of days working out the sequence (with the help of a ladder at one point!) and surprisingly rated it as only highball V8/7b.
