Caff facing damp conditions on the first ascent of Fy Mrawd (7A!) photo: Lewis Perrin

James McHaffie continues to explore the less visited corners of Dyffryn Peris in search of new rock. Last week he was richly rewarded with the first ascent of a stunning highball wall.

”It's only 10 minutes walk up right from Cromlech roadside boulders, and is around 7A, although the two crux pockets aren't made for Cumbrian sausage fingers. Lovely jug pocket at the top to reach for and with a small team the landing is great.” enthused Caff after the ascent.
