Invisible man on Fish Finger (photo: Si Panton)

A number of new lines on exquisite rough rock got done this week just above the Meadow on the Wavelength hillside.

Firstly, Si Panton traced the slopey lip of the prow/roof thing 30 metres above the top wall of The Meadow. Fish Finger (V5) starts from a sds matching the right hand crack, before moving left past the left hand crack to gain the end of the prow with difficulty; rock back right onto the slab to finish.

Mat Perrier powered out the direct grinding mantel onto the slab from the lefthand crack: Fish Face (V6). Just up from here, left of an unclimbed wall a fun slopey mantel can be done: Shellfish (V?).

Up and left on the next level a drainage streaked slabby wall of immaculate rock was breached on its left side by Noel Craine at around V2. On the side wall of the open gully leading up to this level an excellent dyno was completed by Chris Davies and Mat Perrier. Fish Food (V6?) flies up from low crimps to a sloping ramp. Chris escaped left from here, but Mat pressed out the mantel and was forced to slap wildly for a clump of heather, which miraculously held his chunky frame!

Also of note is Nigel Callender's ascent of the minor project (mentioned in the guide) left of Jerry's Wall beneath Carreg Wastad. V4 apparently.
