Owen Hayward has added a selection of neat problems in Area 2 at Porth Ysgo.

Best of the bunch is Ysgo Magic 7A, which gives great climbing up the right side of the landward arete of the Higginson Scar block. From a sds on the pointy block just right of the arete pull on and make a hard slap up left round the arete to get a big slopey boss. A few more tricky moves lead to better holds and an easier but good finish. An alternative finish from the better holds swinging left and finishing up the left side of the arete is also good.

Owen also climbed a slightly harder right hand finish at 7A/+. Follow Ysgo Magic to the better holds then traverse airily right past a good hold in the base of the shallow scoop to gain the top of the right arete (don't look down!). Both of these lines can be climbed from standing at 6B+/C.

Another good grade 7 addition is the obvious Nose – GWP link at 7A+/B.

There is also a trio of grade 6s:

Lip Up 6A+ - Good lip traverse starting at the landward side of the Super Cheers block under the end of the wire fence. Start at the right side where the boulder meets the hillside and traverse the slopey lip left round the arete and on to gain and follow the nice slopey shelf at ¾ height to top out above the leaning boulder.

Hwyl 6b - Start just right of the leaning boulder with a good thin flake for the left, a sloper for the right and small smears for feet. A tricky move gains the slopey shelf then straight up to finish.

6B+ - The sds to the right side of the left arete of the Ysgo Flange wall.
