Suncharm Ledge Photo: Mark Dicken

Bouldering opportunities in the Dinorwig slate quarries are surprisingly thin on the ground. There is the odd problem here and there, but thus far nothing to get too excited about.

All that has changed now with the discovery and development of a section of crag in the Twll Mawr area. Mark Dicken was the initial explorer of Suncharm Ledge, but he also introduced Calum Muskett who climbed a few lines as well.

Thus far there are seven problems up to V6/7A. Although located in the slate quarries the rock is excellent quality dolerite. Mark has produced a topo on his blog; go to hoseyb.blogspot.com to view it.
