Just after Christmas Danny Cattell dropped in for a session at the Cromlech Boulders. After a quick repeat of Chris Davies’ Sub Society V11/8a, he made the third known ascent of the reverse (after Micky page, who climbed the line in the summer of 2007), also first climbed by Chris Davies at V12/8a+. Danny felt it was actually easier than the original, reckoning V10/7c+ a fair grade.
And yesterday at Porth Ysgo Chris Davies made the second ascent of Paul Higginson’s micro problem, Lo Lo at Porth Ysgo. It was mistakenly given a guidebook grade of V11/8a, although Paul thought that it was definitely V12/8a+ and probably the hardest move he’d ever done. Chris agreed with the V12/8a+ grade, although he did not do the start the problem matched on the low undercut as Paul had done. The landing below the problem has changed significantly since it was first done.
