Chris Davies showing his sequence for This Parade V12/Font 8a+, photos: Davies collection

Chris Davies has climbed another desperate line at Gallt yr Ogof in the Ogwen Valley. This Parade V12/Font 8a+ starts sitting as for Regeneration then breaks left after 2 moves to follow a series of head high crimps past Sway On, to finish up Diamond Eyes, the V9/Font 7c dyno on the left side of this steep face.

After the ascent Chris explained the nature of the beast: “It’s very crimpy with minimal footholds; the moves are wicked! I had originally worked the line with a cut loose, but on the day it was too warm to release my feet, so I had to work out a new sequence. There were just enough dinks and smears to stay in contact and I managed to make it through in one push.”

Diamond Eyes is a line climbed by Chris just after the NWB guide went to print back in 2004; it fires for the top from a left hand L-shaped hold and a right hand crimp at head height.
