Adam Hocking on Twilight of the Idols V9/7c photos: Si Panton

Adam Hocking hoovered up another well-known project line in the Pass on Easter Sunday. Twilight of the Idols V9/7c takes the Cressbrook style line on the near side of the suspended block in the Carreg Wastad Boulders, i.e. up and left of Jerry’s Wall.

It starts hanging on the lip of the roof using an obvious sidepull and crimp, then makes a snatch up to a right hand crimp, before taking a left hand back hand/undercut. Match on the undercut and cross over to an edge, then grab a jug and top out more easily.

Impressively, Hock managed to climb this in a single short session right at the end of a long day out, having already spent much strength-sapping time working on, or working out on, other steep test pieces further down the valley.
