Dylan Smith on Viking Invasion V5/6c+ photos: Erika Bergholm

.

Dylan Smith has climbed an impressive looking highball line on the crag at the RAC Boulders. Viking Invasion V5/6c+ takes the hanging arete 10 metres right of the dog leg offwidth crack, and just right of the route Pygmy Passion.

It starts standing or sitting (no difference to the grade) on the lower part of the arete (not off the boulder). Climb up on the left side of the arête to the 2-3 metre height, then swing around to the right hand side to reach a nice line of sidepulls; continue up the arete to a good pinch to finish with a little snatch to a good hold.

STOP PRESS 12.04.07

NWB.com has just received a retro claim for this line. It seems that Pete Robins and Will Perrin did it a number of years ago, mistaking it for Pygmy Passion.
